Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, took control to create a final set.

Moutet rescued four early chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
